Dear Michael,
upsideDown
Automotive Fraud has already increased due to the gas crises,  upside down car loans, and the devaluation of used car prices for larger gas-guzzling cars (particularly Trucks and SUVs).

Asian automakers outsold Detroit's Big Three in the United States for the first time last month (June 2008). Ford sales were down 29.5%, GM 18.5%, and Chrysler was down 36%.

Conversely, Honda sales were up, and for the first time in years the Ford F-150 was outsold by compact cars such as the Accord, Civic and Camry.

Arson investigators are seeing an increase in burns of trucks and SUVs. We need to be very diligent in our investigation of claims involving the vehicles whose numbers are plummeting.

Sport Compact Car Events
With the increase in sport compact sales and modifications comes an increase in theft and fraud. Over the last 10 years we have seen an increase in theft and fraud claims related to modified vehicles before, during and after events.

Although we can not attest to the accuracy of the event dates listed on the this site, use it as a start to determine what is going on in your city: July events in CT, FL, NC, NJ, NV, ME, TN...  http://www.autosportz.com/events_calendar.htm
